What happens in Book Club, definitely shouldn't stay in Book Club.

Y’all, I am a terrible blogger.

That said, one of my new year’s resolutions is to write more. (And definitely shop online less.)

One of the ways I’m going to motivate myself to do that is by writing a review for each book we read for our monthly book club.

Yes. You read that correctly.

WE STARTED A BOOK CLUB!

Sorry I'm just now telling you all about it. But better late than never, right?

People have asked us about starting one for basically as long as we’ve been in business, but I was always very uncertain. I am passionate about what I like and don’t like, and I’ve always worried about alienating people with my strong opinions. (I’m sure my husband is crying with laughter reading this, but it’s true!) I was worried that “book club” would just be me, sitting by myself in the coffee shop, trying to look busy, but secretly eavesdropping on all of the people around me.

Y’know. Like you do.

But I have been #blessed by the support and enthusiasm of a truly terrific bunch of ladies! All have gone from complete strangers to friends in just six short months. They’ve encouraged and challenged me with their thoughts about each story we’ve read together, and I can honestly say that starting this whole thing was my best decision of 2019.

I’m even more excited from this point on that they’ll be taking some of the pressure off of me!

Although I picked the first five books, moving forward each member will take turns selecting our next title. Meetings are normally the 2nd Monday night of each month, from 7:30-8:30pm. We’ve met at a local coffee shop in the past, but we’re going to try meeting at the book store for the next few months, provided we don’t outgrow our space! Check our Facebook events for more info!

This month, we’ll be reading The Life She Was Given by Ellen Marie Wiseman. The meeting is Monday January 13th, so be expecting a review very soon!
